Summer Challenge--Week 5

Down 2 from last week, good stuff. This is a new low! Yeah!

Let's review how I did with this weeks goals:

1.Lose 25 pounds (193.8) CHECK! Down this week!  Woot Woot! Goal is to be down next week also, if I can do this I will be ecstatic--212 or lower next week that is the goal
2. Try a new physical activity each week CHECK! Did the 5K walk and I am going to a Zumba class tomorrow, I haven't done Zumba in so long and the class is with my favorite teacher.  Next week, I am going to try some Aqua Fitness classes, will keep you posted.
3. Make a new healthy recipe each week CHECK! I made these banana, cranberry, almond muffins and they were delicious.  Here is the recipe:

 Banana Cranberry Almond Muffins
2 cups whole wheat four
2 tbsp sugar (I did one sugar, one stevia--natural sweetener)
3 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 egg beaten
1/4 cup melted butter
1 cup milk
3 bananas (they were going bad) but in reality you only need about 1 cup
Handful of almonds ground
Handful of dried cranberries

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl.  Stir together.  Make a wheel at the centre.  In a medium sized bowl, beat egg until frothy.  Mix in butter, milk, bananas, cranberries and almonds.  Pour into wheel.  Stir only to moisten.  Batter will be lumpy.  Fill greased muffin cups 3/4 full. Bake at 400F oven for 20-25 minutes.  Let stand for 5 minutes.  remove from pan.  Serve warm, makes about 12-16 muffins.

For the first time since I started this challenge I have complete all the goals that I have set for myself.  I am happy about the weight loss, but I feel as if it could have been more.  I woke up this morning feeling very bloated and I am sure that it is from the Lebanese food that I had for dinner last night.  I am delighted that I am so close to my 211 goal and I hope that I can reach that by next week.
 
Summer is here and this means that I will need to revisit my summer resolutions.  Jazz Festival starts today so I will have to go downtown and check out a few of the free shows.
 
Started Level 2 of the 30 Day Shred and everything was going well until those damn front raises and chair sits.  I have come to the conclusion that my shoulders are very weak.  We then had to do plank jumping jacks which I had to stop and side twists that were a biatch.  Wow, Level 2 is not a joke,wish me luck.

222.8!

Yeah down 3.2, excellent!  I worked my ass of this week and I am happy to see that it payed off. I am going to go down again next week if my life depends on it, oh wait I won't be able to weight in because I am going out of town for a friends bday.

Remember to "spring forward" tonight for Day Light Savings, boo to losing an hour, yeah to more sun!

Weight In ...Up But Not Out

Ehhh.....up by 0.4 could be worse, can there ever  be two weeks that I go down in a row?   I am off to DC on Monday, I am so excited to have a break and relax.  Nevertheless, I am taking work with me.   I will be heading to the library to take out some books, any suggestions?  I am taking Book of Negroes with me.  Some people liked it some didn't.  I already bought my trashy magazines, sudoku and crosswords.  My friend who is a retired English teacher made me a 3 page recommendation list, lol!  I have another post in the works about the blog award I got (Thanks again Amberly!) Went to the store and tried on some dresses that were on sale, it made me happy that I can fit into the size 16 comfortably, with a bit of tightness in the breast area, but that has always been an issue.  Didn't buy anything though.

Weight is up this week to 230.8 not happy about that but really had a bad week on the eating and workout front. I really need to get my head back in the game.

I LOVE the Olympics, I have watched alot today (women's moguls, short track speed skating, women's hockey) and I love how the Olympics has the power to bring the world together, I am also happy because it is on home turf! GO CANADA! I was watching a bit of women's hockey we are winning 16-0 against Slovakia (Yikes!) and there was still 12 minutes to go. In the next few days you will be reading alot of Olympic talk.

Doing a Happy Dance!

I weight in today at 224.4! I am ecstatic! That is a 7.8 lb loss since last week. Let's review what worked this week:

-Ate super clean
-Realized that starches are my enemy and I stay away from them as much as possible, because once I start I cannot stop
-Gym at least 5 days a week
-Water to the max
-Green tea at least one cup a day

I have reached goal 1, manicure hear I come!

My biggest challenge is the Haiti dinner tonight. Thank you so much to everyone who left me recipes, still not decided what I will bring.

Today's weigh was 232.2. Boo! That's is up 2.4 from last week. Now I have to ask myself why, here are the reasons that I have come up with:

-I went out to eat twice this week and had dessert one of those times
-Missed out on a gym session

Alas, all I can do it continue and aim to be down next week.

Today I did a Bootcamp class and Spinning ( I know I am on crack) and then I weight myself, drum roll please..............

230.6 !

Excellent!

I am so happy, 220's here I come!

To day I had

-3 tangerines with a piece of cheese ( I don't like to eat a lot before the gym)
-2 oz cashews
- Omelet made of 3 eggs and vegetables (onions, red and green pepper)
-2 slices of toast
-Mixed fruit (banana, cantaloupe, melon dew)
